I have much experience in giving lectures talking in public, lectures etc. I am very experienced in supporting people with all issues connected to their condition that they may experience in their daily life. Do Dementia Care Homes Practise "true" Person Centred Care ?
Are our " gray" elders benefiting from our scientific findings in socialPatient care or Only from the Science of Drugs and their effects on their physical health alone. Medical advances in theraputic treatments of diseases is unchallenged and draws every person to a debate . we all love to attach bodies that refuses to legitimise a certain drug that would have found to be beneficial to the patients . We are even prepared to get court mandates against the prescribers or anyone that prevents us access to it . The Media is quick to form clips and documentary films to a mass public support .Now what of Social Science findings and their relationship to health why are they not a point to rally behind change ? Why do we agree to visible social and mental neglect patients with dementia are subjected to ?Can we agree to a day of Wake up,get dressed, lay tables, eat, sit and play puzzle , eat and sleep.Staff are task orientated and inspectors measure tasks outcomes only no Social interactionThe jargon of Care standards measurements of minimum expected care in dementia care is absolute and not in relation to advances in scientific findings .What are they measuring in relationship to dementia care ? Is it appropriate ? Are there Tools to measure social care outcomes in relationship to dementia care ? I put it across to you that a lot of time is spent trying to establish meaningful communication with people with dementia and certain skills are needed . Is time spent with them to achieve this need . What do staff value most changing or empting of commodes or sitting and talking to the clients .Is there a tool that measures Social interactions and if yes is it in use ?

Dementia care for the elderly.?
Does anyone know what the ruling is regarding elderly patients in dementia care and the necessity for them to be admitted into nursing care. Are there any hard and fast rules to work to within the care home criteria?

Which course should i take to become a Dementia care nurse?
I would like to become a dementia care nurse, but i don't know if i should train to be an adult nurse then specialise or train to be a mental health nurse and go from there?Mental health would be best but i feel i would enjoy the General nursing course more and then if later on i feel i would like to change from been a dementia care nurse i have a wider option?

Dementia care experts only please.?
Hi. dont get this wrong. i value everyones opinion, but need an expert with dementia care to answer my question. Last night my Dad was sleeping, he woke up and asked his caregiver where my Mom was. She passed away in May, but the caregiver told him that she had gone away with me somewhere. When I found out she had done this, I was furious. I told her under no circumstances should she lie about my Mom's death. That I felt Dad would only be confused more because who knows what he remembers and doesnt remember and I dont want him to feel like we are hiding Mom somewhere from him.Yes he was at the funeral etc, but having dementia he doesn't always except that she is gone. The caregiver said she told him that because she didnt want to get him upset when he was trying to go back to sleep. I still dont think she handled the situation properly. What was the best way for this situation to be taken care of? Thanks.ok.. so now that Dad did ask me today where mom is.. was I suspose to lie and say she was out with the caregiver?
